In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the number of attacks and incidents in the field of cybersecurity. A 2020 study by the CSIRT NASK team on the security of local government websites revealed vulnerabilities in more than half of the examined sites, including serious errors. These vulnerabilities are increasingly being noticed and exploited by cybercriminals. This project is funded under the EUROPEAN FUNDS FOR DIGITAL DEVELOPMENT 2021-2027 (FERC) Priority II: Advanced Digital Services, Action 2.2 – Strengthening the National Cybersecurity System.
Funding ranging from 250,000 to 850,000 PLN is dedicated to 2,807 local government units:
- 2 477 municipalities
- 314 districts
- 16 provinces
The goal of the project is to increase the level of information security for local government units (LGUs) by strengthening resilience and the ability to effectively prevent and respond to incidents in information systems.
The project will contribute to:- Implementation or update of information security policies (ISMS) in LGUs
- Implementation of cybersecurity risk management measures in LGUs
- Implementation of mechanisms and measures in LGUs to increase resilience against cyber attacks
- Raising the level of knowledge and competencies of LGU personnel crucial for the ISMS implemented in the office
- Conducting ISMS audits in LGUs to confirm achieving a higher level of resilience against cyber threats
- Real Utilization of Funds: Practical use of funds to enhance data security within local government units
- Comprehensive IT Coverage: Addressing over 90% of IT areas covered in the questionnaire required for the "Cybersecure Local Government" program
- Compliance with Grant Guidelines: Full adherence to the assumptions and guidelines of the grant
- Ongoing Improvement: A work cycle that guarantees continuous enhancement of security through the implementation of security recommendations and their subsequent audit
